The MelonThe melon was a culture introduced in century XI in the Spot by the Arabs. The references oldest cradles in personal experiences are the collections in the original and objective Agricultural Treaty of Ibn Bassal.
In Literature the mentions to this fruit are frequent. In the Book of the good love of Juan Ruiz, Arcipreste de Hita, that dates from year 1340, appears Don Melo'n, one of the main assistants of Dª Cuaresma in its fights against Don Carnal.
In 2ª part, chapter XXXII of the Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote of the Spot, of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, written in 1615, Sancho Belly, the young man of the horseman andante, names the melon and the grenade. In his satirical Obra, Francisco de Quevedo also mentions it.
But recently the writer Francisco Garci'a Pavón, natural of Tomelloso (Real City), in diverse acclimated passages of his literary work in places of his native zone makes continuous references to the meloneros, the plantations of melons and the commerce of these.
